This episode was released on the 23rd of July 2019 & it remains our most listened to show. We were still quite raw at this stage & on a steep learning curve as we discussed the Rabbitohs 30-18 defeat of the Cowboys in Townsville at 1300SMILES Stadium & the upcoming clash against the Dragons at ANZ Stadium that we would go on to win 20-16. Our special guest Souths legend Les ‘Bundy’ Davidson is the obvious attraction here & while our sound quality & interview skills still needed work at this stage, we still managed to record an interesting & revealing chat.
A fiery Dubbo forward, Les Davidson made his mark with Souths before being chosen for the 1986 Kangaroo tour. Davidson played in 14 matches on tour, including the Third Test against Great Britain (as a reserve), as well as two Tests against France. In 1987 he played in all four State of Origin matches, was chosen in the one-off Test against NZ in Brisbane and was named ‘Dally M’ Player’s Player of the Year. A consistent performer for Souths during the club’s heady days in the late 1980s Davidson also played with English clubs Warrington and Wigan during this period. When Souths faltered in 1990 he moved to Cronulla but a contractual dispute prior to the 1992 season almost saw him leave the club. After serving a lengthy suspension for a tackle on Easts’ Rod Silva in 1992 he slowly recaptured his best form and was consistently one of the club’s best forwards during the mid-1990s.
