The new COVID-19 lockdown measures mean that we can’t all be in the same place at once to record the show. We can however still make the podcast via phone hook up & even though our sound quality may not be up to our usual high standard, we’ll continue because the show must go on! On this weeks show we speak to Rabbitohs supporter & Group One winning jockey Adam ‘Hippo’ Hyeronimus, chat to Glen ‘Fats’ Farah, there’s new music from Crash & The Carpenters plus all the Rabbitohs & NRL news.

Adam Hyeronimus Jockey Profile

Adam Hyeronimus makes the most of his opportunities after a year of breaks

Adam Hyeronimus is a 29 year old jockey who grew up supporting the Rabbitohs thanks to his grandfather who was also a “massive South Sydney supporter”. Adams dad Craig was a champion jockey & his pop Reg on his mums side was also a legendary hoop. As a young bloke Adam played hooker in rugby league but with racing in his blood once he turned 16 a life in the saddle beckoned.

Hyeronimus was schooled via the Racing NSW apprentices program and tutored by the likes of Ron Quinton, Malcolm Johnston and Mal Fitzgerald. “I started off with Rob Price at Nowra then came up to Kevin Moses at Randwick,” Hyeronimus said.

On Saturday 28th March 2020 Hyeronimus rode his 1st Group One winner at Rosehill Gardens on the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott trained Shout The Bar.

“Shout The Bar, brilliantly rated in front by Hyeronimus, defied her opposition to win the $500,000 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).” – Ray Thomas

Waterhouse, the Hall of Fame trainer who has now prepared 142 Group 1 wins, said she was “over the moon for Adam”.

“I only said to (husband) Rob about a month ago this Adam Hyeronimus is riding absolutely super,’’ Waterhouse said. “He understands the pace of races, never bustles them, he rates them perfectly. It’s a real art.
