Our Fabulous ’14 series pays tribute to the Rabbitohs 2014 premiership winning season. Today we feature yet another legendary Rabbitoh Nathan Merritt.

Nathan Merritt played 12 games for the Rabbitohs in 2014 & scored 2 tries.

In round 6 Nathan Merritt etched his name in the club’s history books when he crossed for the 145th four-pointer of a stellar career.

Merritt’s 55th-minute effort was greeted with great delight by his team-mates as he finally usurped Benny Wearing’s club try-scoring record that had stood since 1933.

Nathan Merritt played 218 games for the Rabbitohs, scoring a record 146 tries, 34 goals & one incredible field goal in 2009 at the S.C.G. to sink the Tigers 23-22.

Merritt played mostly winger & fullback for Souths but didn’t play in the 2014 grand final. The wingers that day were Lote Tuqiri & Alex Johnston. The fullback was Greg Inglis.
