In November 2021 we had a chat with Souths fan and Federal Member for Kingsford Smith Matt Thistlethwaite on Rabbitohs TV.
In an our interview Matt talks about growing up in Maroubra, playing rugby league for the Maroubra Lions and his love of the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
One of Matts earliest memories in life was going to a Rabbitohs v Roosters game at Redfern Oval and a tear comes to his eye when he remembers the photo he had taken with Greg Inglis holding the Provan Summons trophy after the 2014 Grand Final win.
Matt has been a driving force behind the Rabbitohs Centre of Excellence at the Heffron Centre, a magnificent community development in Maroubra due for completion later this year and he also supports a multitude of projects and causes in the South Sydney area.
Matt is particularly proud of his work improving education in local schools and his involvement helping people in need in the La Perouse community.
Labour Party member Matt is running for re-election in the upcoming Federal Election on Saturday 21st of May, 2022.
Federal Labour leader Anthony Albanese grew up in Redfern and is also a lifelong Rabbitohs man. If Labour wins this election we will have a Prime Minister of this country that bleeds red & green.
Matt Thistlethwaite is a tremendous bloke who is doing great things for the area in which he grew up and if his party is elected to government I have no doubt he will do even greater things for this nation. Matt would make a fantastic Cabinet Minister and who knows maybe one day he may ascend to the top job of PM.
I don’t want to tell you how to vote but I’ll be voting Labour because in my opinion life in Australia and South Sydney will be great with Thistlethwaite and easy under Albanese.
