Rabbitohs v Cowboys Cairns Trial Preview

The Rabbitohs take on the Cowboys 6pm Saturday at Barlow Park Cairns. The game will be televised live on Fox League & Kayo.

He began his Queensland Cup coaching career in Cairns, and now Jason Demetriou will start his NRL career in similar fashion when he takes the reins against the Cowboys.

JD has named a lineup brimming with emerging talent mixed in with some first grade experience. The entire 30 man squad is in Cairns on a week long camp.

Powerful young prop Davvy Moale will start against the Cowboys.

Jaxson Paulo will play left centre with exciting prospect Josiah Karapani on the right side. Look out for pathways powerhouse Zane Bijorac if he finds some space on the wing.

North Queensland Cowboys Head Coach Todd Payten has named a 22-man squad to face the Rabbitohs.

The squad is made up of the Cowboys’ leading emerging talents and the top players from the clubs three Queensland Cup feeder teams – Northern Pride, Townsville Blackhawks and Mackay Cutters.

Brendan Elliot will make his first appearance in Cowboys colours, partnering rookie Jordan Lipp in the centres.

Olympic Gold Medallist Iosefo Baleiwairiki will make his debut for the Cowboys in Saturdays trial.

Fijian Rugby 7s sensation Iosefo Baleiwairiki is also set to make his Cowboys debut. Baleiwairiki joined the Cowboys in the pre-season after claiming an Olympic Gold Medal in Tokyo.

Utility Daejarn Asi has been named in the halves with Jake Bourke. Bourke has spent the pre-season with the NRL squad on a training block and impressed in the Cowboys Young Guns trial last weekend.
