Souths Stop Storm – AJ 79 From 79 – Jed Stars – Rabbitohs 24 Melbourne 12

By Steve Mavin last night at Accor Stadium

The mighty Rabbitohs won their 4th game in a row last night at Accor Stadium when they defeated the Storm for just the 6th time in 24 years.

Grant Chappell interviewed Campbell Graham in the P&O Members Deck.

A crowd of around 11000 mostly Souths supporters were at the game and for the majority of the 80 minutes the home side dominated in both attack and defence.

The Brooks

Jed Cartwright was one of the Bunnies best in his new role as starting right centre. Halfback Lachy Ilias was tremenous and scored a brilliant try backing up on the inside of a clever Keaon Koloamatangi ball. Keaon too was at his barnstorming best scoring the opening try and leading his team with 181 run metres.

The Symonds.

An Alex Johnston double took his record at Accor Stadium to an incredible 79 tries from 79 games and he went very close to making it 80 after Latrell Mitchell kicked ahead in what would have been one of the tries of the season.

Latrell had a relatively quiet game by recent standards but still set up 2 tries that would ultimately be the margin of victory for his team. It is no coincidence that the Bunnies remain undefeated since ‘Trell Mit’ returned from injury. If we can keep this squad fit then bring back Campbell Graham before the finals a run at title number 22 is entirely possible.

Chaps, Samara & Cashy.

This was an important win for the club and moves them to 6th on the ladder on 24 points, 4 points clear of the 8th placed Roosters. Next week Souths take on the 3rd placed Sharks in another blockbuster clash 5.30pm away at Pointsbet Stadium.
