This story began with a single photograph taken by Darren Brown on the 2nd of July 2022 at Accor Stadium after the Rabbitohs had defeated the Eels 30-12 in round 16 of the NRL season.
Browny & I were hosting the Rabbitohs post match function in the P&O Members Deck and before each show begins we try to meet a few fans and take photos to share on our website and social media.
This is how we met cousins Rami – an Eels fan & Nidal – the Rabbitohs man.
Rami as we were to discover later is a businessman who created the successful restaurant franchise Rashays with his wife Shannon. Chef Nidal has been involved with the business from the beginning and now works as a consultant at head office in Chester Hill.
So I made an appointment and sat down with Rami & Nidal for a chat at Rashays head office in Chester Hill then on Sunday night I took my wife Samantha to Rashays Harbourside for dinner and a few drinks.
During our interview it became clear that both Rami & Ned love their footy and grew up with rugby league as a central them in their lives. Both played for the Enfield Federals and looked forward to training, playing and watching the greatest game of all every week.

The food, drinks and service at Rashays were all first class. The beef ribs were an absolute standout, the meat was so tender and just melted in your mouth. The desserts are excellent and the unlimited soft drink is a nice touch. Sam highly recommended the Mcquigan Black Label Shiraz.
After our first visit to Rashays we can see why they are so popular, serving Aussie favourite meals of the highest quality.
At work today when I mentioned the great dinner we enjoyed at Rashays, my workmate Nick Russell said “I’ve been to the Rashays at Tuggerah with my daughter and the food is sensational”.
